Do you love the show Shaun the Sheep? You might have a big decision to make! The Met Office, which is the UK's group that tracks the weather, is asking people to vote on whether to name a future storm 'Shaun' or 'Timmy.' The winner of this online vote will be put on the official list of storm names for 2026/27. This fun contest is happening because Aardman Studios, the company that makes the show, is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. However, it is not very likely that we will actually see a Storm Shaun or Storm Timmy! The Met Office began naming storms in 2015, going through the alphabet in order starting every September. So far, the furthest they have ever gotten is the letter L with Storm Lilian. Because they have never reached the letters S or T in a single year, these names might just stay on the list as a fun surprise. The Met Office says that giving storms names helps people pay more attention to them and understand how dangerous bad weather can be. It also makes it easier to track a storm on the news or social media if it has a name. The Met Office hopes that teaming up with an Oscar-winning animation studio will help more people learn about staying safe during wild weather. Amy Pearson from Aardman says that weather is a big part of life on Mossy Bottom Farm, and they hope this vote helps everyone talk about the weather and how to stay safe, no matter what happens outside!
