Water lilies are special plants that float on ponds. They have strong leaves that can hold a lot of weight. In a fun contest called the Waterlily Weigh-Off, people test how much a waterlily can support. Some waterlilies can hold a person who weighs about 102 kilograms (about 16 stones). Scientists and gardeners from around the world have tried to see how heavy a waterlily can be. They also have silly entries, like a tiny Playmobil plant holding a weight of 400,000 pounds. The contest is open until August 28, and many gardens will join. There is also a special feather weight champion for the little ones!
