We've had our first look at a Quidditch match!

All aboard the Hogwarts Express because the first Harry Potter TV trailer has dropped!

For the muggles among you, a new Harry Potter TV show is coming to our screens later this year, and since it was announced in 2023 it's been causing quite a stir.

And now, we have our first look at some of the main characters, as well as the iconic school of magic they'll be attending.

So what else can you see in the new trailer, and what do we know about the show so far? Cast a lumos spell and read on to find out...

New Hogwarts Express - from scrapyard to series

The trailer opens with Harry having a pretty rough time at home and at his muggle school.

But, as Aunt Petunia tells him he's "nothing special", we see a letter form Hogwarts in his hands.

Then we get our first look at Hagrid, who looks a bit uncomfy sitting on the tube in London, telling Harry about his parents.

Are you excited to go back to Hogwarts again?

After that, it's off to Kings Cross Station, where Harry catches a glimpse of Weasley red hair on the platform.

And once he reaches Hogwarts, we get to see all kinds of familiar things - the Gryffindor common room, the moving staircases, and even a flash of Harry's precious broomstick, the Nimbus 2000.

These three will be working on the show for the next ten years

We get to see a lot of the new cast in the trailer too, including our favourite troublesome trio.

It was an open casting call to find the new leads, and while a whopping 32,000 children auditioned, only three could be chosen.

They are Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.

John Lithgow and Paapa Essiedu will play professors Dumbledore and Snape

And many more members of the cast have been announced over the last couple of years.

While not all of them were in the trailer, some of the key ones are:

Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape

Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall

Luke Thallon as Professor Quirrell

Warwick Davis is hopping back on the Hogwarts Express

Alongside the brand new members of the cast, there will be someone you might recognise.

Warwick Davis will be returning as the Charms professor Flitwick, teaching the students how to use the levitation spell correctly - is it levi-osah or levio-sah?

The locomotive was restored by volunteers

And we can't forget one of the most important members of the cast!

A steam locomotive that looked like it was going to be scrapped, will now be used for the role of the famous Hogwarts Express.

The locomotive - called Wightwick Hall - was saved from a scrapyard in Barry Island in South Wales in 1978 and has been lovingly restored by volunteers.

Harry will be on our screens at the end of the year

The first series, starting with the first book 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', will be out at Christmas in 2026, according to the trailer.

But the show will span all seven of the original books, and this will take around 10 years to complete.

The show is being filmed at Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesdon, just outside Watford.

And the actors won't be missing any school while they're there - it may not be as grand as Hogwarts, but the council have allowed a school to be built there for use over the next ten years.

The classrooms can fit up to 600 kids if a lot of people are there for big crowd shots, but most of the time it will house around 150 children.
